What our guests say

Skippers in action
Depending on date and format, experienced skippers from the ONBOAT environment accompany the trip. The focus is calm seamanship, clear communication and safe decisions on board.
Practical context
At first sight, it is a sailing weekend: arrive, step aboard, cast off, see coastal places, maybe swim and sit in the cockpit in the evening. This is where the value comes from: real time on the water, a small group and an atmosphere that does not feel staged.
ONBOAT attitude
Below the surface, it is about slowing down. The route deliberately depends on weather and crew so the experience is not forced against wind, schedule or atmosphere. Slow wins – also on a sailing weekend.
Itinerary
The itinerary is tied to the selected variant. Three-day, four-day, five-day and land-based formats may differ.
Arrival & briefing
Check-in, safety briefing, crew roles and first orientation for yacht, region and format.
Practice, sailing or region
The main content depends on the variant: training, sailing experience, yacht care, Work Afloat or land-based regional experience.
Return, feedback & next step
Clean conclusion, personal feedback and a clear next step if further support makes sense.
FAQ
Practical answers sorted by topic. Open a section and then the individual question.
General questions Booking, weather, arrival, costs and life on board.
Do I need sailing experience?
No. Many ONBOAT experiences are suitable without previous sailing knowledge. You may help actively if you like, or simply enjoy being a guest.
Can I join alone?
Yes. Solo travellers are welcome. Before confirmation we check whether date, crew size and cabin situation fit well.
Can I book as a couple or with friends?
Yes. You can request individual berths, cabins or, depending on the offer, the whole yacht exclusively.
How large are the groups?
ONBOAT deliberately works with small groups. This leaves room for questions, safety, personal guidance and real life on board.
What does all-in mean?
All-in means that the main services are transparently included. Depending on the offer this may include yacht, skipper, accommodation on board, basic board cash, normal harbour fees, gas, water and final cleaning.
Which additional costs may occur?
Additional costs are mainly personal expenses: travel, restaurants, special shore visits, individual drinks or special wishes. Unusual harbour fees or weather-related changes are discussed personally.
How does a request work?
You send a request. We personally check date, crew size, weather window, cabins and framework and reply with a suitable proposal.
When is a booking binding?
A booking becomes binding only after personal confirmation by ONBOAT and according to the agreed booking and payment conditions.
Do I have to pay immediately?
No. First we check whether the offer really fits. After that you receive the next steps transparently.
What happens in bad weather?
Safety comes before the programme. Route, timing or contents may be adjusted. If leaving harbour responsibly is not sensible, we decide calmly and transparently.
Who decides route and programme?
The final decision lies with the responsible skipper. Crew wishes are considered, but weather, safety and seamanship come first.
How do I get to Monfalcone?
Monfalcone can be reached by car, train and via the airports of Trieste, Venice or Treviso. Details are coordinated according to the date.
Are there parking options?
There are parking options in and around the marina depending on season. Before arrival we provide suitable guidance.
What should I bring?
Bring a soft travel bag instead of a hard suitcase, non-slip shoes, weatherproof clothing, sun protection, personal medication and what you really need for a few days on board.
What is a typical day on board like?
After weather check and short briefing there is sailing, training or passage, breaks, harbour or anchorage and a shared end of the day.
Is there Wi-Fi or power on board?
Power is available on board, but not unlimited like at home. Wi-Fi depends on mobile reception. For work or longer use we clarify needs beforehand.
What happens in case of illness?
Please inform us as early as possible. Depending on booking status, date and conditions we check fair options.
Can dates be postponed?
Sometimes yes, but not automatically. Yacht, crew, weather window and other bookings must fit together.
Are children or teenagers possible?
Yes, depending on format, age, weather, crew and responsibility situation. We check such requests especially carefully.
Why is every request checked personally?
Because weather, crew, experience, cabins, safety and expectations must fit together. ONBOAT is not a mass booking system.

Is the weekend holiday or training?

Which destinations are realistic?

If weather, temperature and route fit, yes. Swimming stops are possible, but never more important than safety and timing.
Is it suitable for beginners?
