After the hot night in Monfalcone, Koper is the first concrete destination. We plan to refuel and allow some time to see the town. HERA will then return to Monfalcone, where the full crew is due to meet before the night passage towards Venice.
On a chart, returning to the starting point may look unusual. In practice it combines fuel, crew logistics and the preparation of the longer passage. The day is divided into manageable steps rather than made unnecessarily complicated.
Refuelling belongs to a sailing trip
Fuel keeps a sailing yacht able to manoeuvre in harbour, continue during a calm spell and maintain a safe schedule when sailing alone is not sufficient. The stop is not the purpose of the trip, but it is part of sound preparation. Access, opening times and current harbour information must be checked again for every real visit.
Koper between old town and commercial port
From the water, Koper shows two sides: a coastal town and a major working port. Tankers wait offshore for access. For the crew, the approach itself becomes part of the experience because the scale of the ships and harbour can be understood differently from aboard a yacht.
Supplies belong to route planning
A fuel stop may look like a minor task on the chart, but it affects range, time reserve and the freedom to react to calm weather or a changed harbour plan. Opening times, waiting and the approach with a yacht of about 15 metres also matter.
