On 27 June, SY HERA is still at berth M05 in Marina Monfalcone. The summer cruise begins with a very warm evening. The heat is present throughout the marina and below deck as well.
HERA is a Bavaria Cruiser 50 with generous cabins, bathrooms and a large saloon. Even so, ventilation and cooling matter on a night like this. One crew member chooses to sleep on deck. It becomes the first small adventure of the trip, not a drama.
The first night aboard HERA
The evening gives everyone time to arrive, settle in and become familiar with the yacht. Weather and temperature feel close aboard a sailing yacht: the cockpit becomes a living space and, in suitable and safe conditions, the deck can even become a place to sleep. Modern equipment provides comfort without separating guests from air, water and the life of the marina.
The first plan: Koper and time under sail
Koper is planned for the following morning. We want to refuel, see the town and then finally sail. Monfalcone is the starting point and Koper the next practical destination. Wind, weather and the crew will decide what follows. That is enough planning for the first evening.
Arriving is already part of the cruise
The first evening shows how quickly a plan aboard must adapt to real conditions. Heat affects sleep, concentration, hydration and the pace at which bags and supplies are stowed. Even on a large yacht, every loose item needs a secure place before departure. At the same time, the crew begins to understand roles and personal routines, creating a useful basis for the next day.
