A sensible engine-speed range for SY HERA

The right engine operation does not come from choosing the highest number. On HERA, experience has established a practical range.

For HERA’s Volvo Penta D2-75, Stefan describes approximately 1,800 to 2,200 revolutions per minute as a suitable range. At 2,200 rpm, he already feels the engine is working harder.

This is personal operating experience with this particular yacht, not a manufacturer approval and not a recommendation for every D2-75 installation.

Observe the actual yacht

Sound, smoke, temperature, boat speed and engine load are considered together. One rpm figure cannot fully explain engine condition.

Do not copy values from another vessel

Figures of 2,800 to 3,200 rpm were considered unrealistic for HERA. Whether another engine or propeller setup uses such values is a separate technical question.
